The ‘Flawless’ singer and actress, born in Houston, Texas first came to our screens as a voice of R&B sensation ‘Destiny’s Child’ in 1999 with their release of their second album ‘The Writings on The Wall’. They smashed the pop charts with singles such as ‘Bills, Bills, Bills’ and ‘Say My Name’. Even though Beyonce was enjoying her new found fame she began to explore other avenues such as acting, she made a launch into the movie scene, co-staring with Mike Myres in ‘Gold member’.
In 2003 she decided to take a centre stage and launch a new solo career. Her first album ‘Dangerously In Love’ was a huge success for her both commercially and critically; she collaborated with many different artists within the Hip-Hop and R&B industry on this album such as Missy Elliot and Sean Paul. It was such a success that her first album won five Grammys. She was already a big name in R&B more so with her solo career than with Destiny’s Child, who sadly split up in 2005.
Queen B continued to rein the charts with the release of her second studio album in 2006 with ‘BDay’. Her well-known songs such as ‘Irreplaceable’ and ‘Beautiful Liar’ toped the charts yet again. 2008 saw another astounding year for the singer/actress. Beyonce had the privilege to sing in front of Obama and the First lady where she sung a rendition of Etta James ‘At Last’. She also embarked on a world tour of which she sold out most, if not all dates following the release of her studio album ‘I Am…..Sasha Fierce’.
Beyonce won more honours at the 2010 Grammy Awards than any other female artist and she also had the record for most number ones on the Billboard Pop Songs chart. Her last world tour showcasing the hits from her latest album ‘Beyonce’ which sold more than 800,000 copies throughout the weekened it was released alone sold out worldwide! We haven’t seen her in the UK since 2013 and whenever she graces us with her presence it is a night not to be missed!
