Recently opened Glasgow venue which hosted its first event – Rod Stewart – in late September 2013. With a maximum capacity of under 13000, reduced to 10,000 when all seated the SSE Hydro is somewhat smaller than the largest venues in most other UK major cities. It was built to compliment the facilities of the SECC with an emphasis on live concerts and some sporting events. The venue hosts around 150 major events each year and attracts over a million visitors. Despite being relatively small in its capacity it is still currently ranked as the fourth busiest entertainment arena in the World. The SSE Hydro can be reached by public transport options in a couple of minutes from the centre of Glasgow, it’s about one mile in distance.
